afternoon in the city

I know, I know – it’s been a long time since I wrote – and if it wasn’t for MrP this blog would be devoid of any interest recently.  There is a reason for this.  I have a new love interest.  A surprising and unexpected turn of events.  As you know, I don’t blog about my love life so I’ll have to leave it there!

However, I can tell you that I spent an enjoyable afternoon with the lovely MrP with whom I am still friends.  We went to the British Museum which holds a special place in my heart because I went there so often with my father.  We didn’t manage to get tickets to go and see the terracotta warriors currently on display in the Reading Room, but there was this rather sweet version made by children in a workshop.

Of the many amazing things in the British Museum we went to see the exhibition of Chinese Jade which was well worth the visit.  One of the more entertaining aspects of the museum is the Greek antiquities that the British plundered and reconstructed for the benefit of the nation:

Yes, that really is an entire temple sitting in the middle of a room …

I thought this sculpture was exquisite:

By far the most marvelous thing that happened was driving straight to the Museum and finding a parking space right outside the door!!!

I promise I’ll blog properly again soon!
